The 'underrated' pronghorn is the fastest land-dwelling animal in North America (second in the world to the infamous cheetah), often clocking in at 50 MPH. Pronghorns are relatively small, around 3 feet tall at the shoulders, and are typically brown or tan in color, with a white belly and neck. When alerted by predators, the pronghorn will lift the hair on it’s backside, displaying a white 'warning sign' for fellow pronghorn within a mile radius. The actual “prong” horn itself is found on the male, and it splits in the middle, forming the forward prong from which it gets it's namesake.
